Blog EntryNov. 6 Chicken Tuesday...a new breed (to me)Nov 6, '07 8:49 AM
for everyone

Seramas chickens are touted as the world's smallest chicken breed. I don't know if someone has posted about them before, but I hadn't heard of them until last weekend. Where have I been! So cute! The above picture is from this link

and I encourage you to visit for some great pictures and an explanation about the birds. Here's a link to the official site:

I'm thinking I want a pair of seramas ! I may need them for my Christmas present! (I can hear CB groaning from here...)

I had a chicken. Her name was Dinner. She dropped pale blue eggs almost daily.

Please tell me that is a quarter and not a poop in the picture. I had little banty chickens when I was about 5. One day I went to play with a friend and when I came home, they were dinner. I was crushed but now I understand it was during WW II and food was scarce. We raised chickens in our back yard and their time was up. Needless to say I wasn't very hungry.

I can't believe I thought of them nicely plated and me sucking a leg bone delicately when I saw you mention them in your other post. Forgive me, I must have been very hungry. It's this diet, you know. *blush* He really is a cute little fellow...wouldn't dream of eating him now. *s*

I know, I feel such a hypocrite! I like chicken too, but I will say that I've never eaten one that I know...just the anonymous ones found at the grocery store. Still, if we were desperately hungry, chickens would quickly become food! Or rather, if things were truly bad, I'd be hoping for lots of eggs to raise lots of chickens!
